This East Washington Street building in Belleville has hosted a string of restaurants over the years — Diamond Lil's, The Carriage House, The Belleville House, The Pasta House Co., and now Papa Vito's Pizza. Staff and diners have long attributed the haunting to a female schoolteacher said to set small fires because she disapproved of liquor being served on the premises; one former employee reported being pushed off a chair while setting up for a party upstairs, and later saw a woman in old-fashioned clothing nearby.
