Help

Quick answers about how Haunter works.

Where do the stories come from?
Public accounts, local histories, news coverage, and what staff and visitors say they have experienced. Every place is checked against an independent source before it is published, and we describe what people report rather than claiming it is proven.
What do “Want to go” and “Have been” do?
They save a place to your profile, so you can keep a list of where you want to go and where you have already been. You need to be signed in.
How do I sign in?
Enter your email and we send you a link that signs you in. There is no password, and if you are new it creates your account too.
How do I add a place?
Use Submit a place. Tell us what happened there and what people report, and include any sources. We read every submission by hand and publish only the ones we can verify.
A place has something wrong. How do I get it fixed?
Leave a comment on the place with what is wrong and, if you can, a source. A simple report-a-problem button is on the way.
Why are some places shown with a map instead of a photo?
We only use photos we are allowed to show, with credit. Where we do not have one yet, we show a map of the approximate location.
