Coolidge was a mining camp built in 1914 by the Boston-Montana company around the Elkhorn Mine and mill, named for Calvin Coolidge, and it reached about 350 people before the company went into receivership in 1923 and a 1927 dam failure washed out the railroad. The post office closed in 1932. The site is listed on the National Register, and the Tyro house is the best-preserved building; the mine is closed for safety.
A short drive off the Pioneer Mountains Scenic Byway then a half-mile walk; the buildings are unstable.
