The Ceely Rose House stands on the grounds of Malabar Farm State Park in Richland County. In 1896 seventeen-year-old Ceely Rose poisoned her family's food with arsenic, killing her father, mother and brother, after her father had forbidden her to see the young man she loved; she was judged insane and spent the rest of her life in a state hospital. TourismOhio lists the farmhouse among its haunted places, and visitors and staff have described footsteps, cold spots and the feeling of being watched in the old farmhouse.
The house is part of Malabar Farm State Park and is open for tours on select days and during special events, so check the park for dates. The park grounds are open daily.
