The Akron Civic Theatre opened in 1929 as Loew's Theatre, one of the few remaining atmospheric theaters designed by John Eberson, with a Moorish courtyard and twinkling star ceiling. Haunted Akron and tour guides tell of Fred, a janitor who worked in the building for decades and is said to still keep an eye on the restrooms, and of a weeping woman whose cries are blamed on the nearby Ohio & Erie Canal. They are stories told by guides, not documented hauntings.
Working theater open for performances, with periodic tours; check the box office or theater website for schedules.
