Playhouse Square in downtown Cleveland is a district of restored 1920s theaters, among them the State, Ohio, Palace (now Connor Palace) and Hanna, and is among the largest performing arts centers in the country outside New York. Over its history, performers, theater workers and visiting psychics have described unexplained happenings. Past accounts mention a woman in the balcony of the Hanna Theatre, a would-be actress in the State Theatre and a gentleman in the Connor Palace who may have been an usher in the 1930s. The Cleveland Area Paranormal Society and Playhouse Square have hosted ghost tours of the Connor Palace, and Cleveland ghost-tour companies include the district on their routes.
Working theaters open for performances; ghost tours run on select dates, so check Playhouse Square for tickets.
