Franklin Castle is the Gothic Revival mansion in Cleveland's Ohio City neighborhood built in the 1860s for German immigrant Hannes Tiedemann. It is Ohio's most famous haunted house: its legends of murders, a hidden room and a ballroom filled with music are largely the product of later writers and past owners, though several members of the Tiedemann family really did die in the house, including a daughter. Reporters who have toured it described cold rooms and a child's cries from the carriage house, and the house appears on TourismOhio's haunted list. Today it is a private home.
Private property with no public tours. It can be admired from the public sidewalk on Franklin Boulevard; please do not enter the grounds or disturb the residents.
