The Buxton Inn in Granville has welcomed travelers since 1812, when Orrin Granger opened it as a stagecoach tavern, and it is one of Ohio's oldest inns. Ohio Magazine and local media tell of several spirits: Ethel "Bonnie" Bounell, who owned the inn in the 1930s and is said to have died in Room 9, her cat Major Buxton, and Major Horton Buxton, an earlier innkeeper. The inn offers its own Ghostory tours. A kitchen fire in 2022 closed it for a time; the hotel and tavern have since reopened.
Historic inn open for overnight stays and tavern service; the restaurant stayed closed after the 2022 fire, so check the inn for current dining and Ghostory tour dates.
