Hocking Hills State Park, with its gorges, caves and waterfalls, is on TourismOhio's haunted list. Old Man's Cave is named for Richard Rowe, a hermit said to have lived in the recess cave and died there from an accidental gunshot; his spirit is said to walk the gorge. Hikers also tell of a "Pale Lady" in a flowered dress who follows people at Ash Cave and of drumming that echoes from the back of the cave.
Free state park open daily; trails can be icy and stairways are steep, and some sections close after storms. The map pin is approximate and marks the Old Man's Cave area.
