The Butte-Silver Bow Courthouse stands on West Granite Street in uptown Butte, near the spot where miner Miles Fuller was hanged in 1904 for murder. His death is said to have been the quickest hanging in Montana. Southwest Montana's haunted-places guide and Distinctly Montana both name Fuller's ghost, with courthouse staff describing an elevator that moves between floors with its buttons pushed by no one, and a shadowy figure that passes through walls.
Working county courthouse open to the public during business hours. Please respect staff and ongoing court business.
