Elkhorn was a silver-mining town whose two best-known buildings, the 1880s Gillian Hall and the 1893 Fraternity Hall with its distinctive balcony, were bought by a preservation society in 1972 to keep them from being moved away. Both are now part of Elkhorn State Park, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and a cemetery lies about a mile beyond the halls.
Park before the town and walk in; check Montana State Parks for current access and closures.
