Shippen Manor in Oxford is a stone mansion built in the 1750s for the owner of the Oxford Furnace, which made iron used in the Revolutionary War, and is now a museum of Warren County. It is listed among New Jersey's most haunted places, with reports of a woman in a blue dress, a young boy in period clothes on the porch and front yard, a woman's torso that flies about, and a soldier on the grounds. The Ghost Hunters team investigated it, finding footsteps, a child's voice on equipment and shadow figures, and judged the activity not malevolent.
Museum with guided tours on the first and second Sundays of the month from May through December, with free admission; check Warren County for current times.
