The Hanoverville Roadhouse is said to be haunted by a boy of about eight to ten, dark-haired and dressed in dark clothes and often seen weeping; he is said to tap people on the leg or arm and to visit the owner, who lives in the building, at night. Diners and staff also describe strange noises, voices and footsteps, and a poltergeist fond of pranks. The Ghost Hunters team investigated in the Season 7 episode "Christmas Spirit," and concluded the boy may be a residual haunting, since they could not make contact with him. The building dates to around 1825 as a stagecoach stop on Hanoverville Road; by 1837 it was a hotel, general store and post office, and it later served as a biker bar, a brothel and, from the 1930s, a restaurant, bar and hunting lodge where acts including Canned Heat and Tiny Tim played. The Roadhouse embraces its reputation and has hosted ghost-hunt dinners in the fall.
