The Peery Hotel, finished in 1910 as one of Salt Lake City's first luxury hotels, is a three-story brick Prairie-style building on the National Register of Historic Places that still takes guests. A hotel spokesman has told Fox 13 about a spirit nicknamed Moaning Molly who is said to ride the elevator, and local lists include it among downtown's haunted spots. No documented death has been found that would explain the stories, so they are best taken as local folklore.
