The Capitol Theatre in downtown Salt Lake City opened in 1913 as the Orpheum and is now a performing-arts venue. According to local reports, a teenage usher named Richard Duffin died in a fire in 1949 and has been blamed for doors that slam, lights that flicker and the smell of smoke, along with equipment that fails and an elevator that opens by itself.
