Manresa Castle's legends center on two rooms: Room 302, where a priest is said to have hanged himself, and Room 306, where a young woman named Kate, a visitor when the house was a private residence, is said to have thrown herself from the window after learning her fiancé was lost at sea. Guests and staff have also reported an elderly woman in an old-fashioned white nightgown near the kitchen door at midnight and a mirror found smashed in the middle of a room, though a former manager told a newspaper in 2003 that a bartender made up both room stories to satisfy people asking about strange things in the hotel. The Prussian-style chateau was built in 1892 in Port Townsend and has been a family home, a Jesuit retreat and college and a hotel. Ghost Adventures investigated it in a Season 11 episode, and Port Townsend's Haunted Histories walks cover it.
