Kaka'ako Fire Station on Queen Street, near downtown Honolulu's Kawaiaha'o Church and 'Iolani Palace, is said to be haunted by the ghost of an old man and his dog. According to the story, a man who took one of the rocks outside the station for his garden began seeing a headless old man and headless dog show up at his door; once he returned the rock, the hauntings stopped. Kawaiaha'o Church, whose grounds hold the graves of several Hawaiian ali'i, predates the Royal Mausoleum at Mauna 'Ala, where Queen Lili'uokalani and most other Hawaiian monarchs are actually buried.
The newer Kakaako fire station on Queen Street is an active station, so please don't disturb the firefighters. The 1929 historic station on South Street is a museum; check its hours before visiting.
