Hollywood Cemetery, founded in 1849 on a hill above the James River, is the burial place of presidents James Monroe and John Tyler, Confederate president Jefferson Davis and more than 18,000 Confederate soldiers. Richmond residents consider it especially haunted, and Virginia Tourism lists it among the state's haunted sites. A local legend says the Richmond Vampire was chased here from the Church Hill Tunnel.
Historic cemetery open daily; walking tours run in season. Please respect the graves and visit in daylight.
