The Haunted Castle House near Brumley is a two-story home with a 30-foot turret and two-foot-thick walls of hand-poured concrete. Its history reaches back to the early 1800s, and it has passed through many owners, including several doctors who saw patients there, with deaths among its owners. A pioneer graveyard with more than twenty graves lies in the backyard, and the tour also visits a probable Civil War campsite. The house was named in Visit Missouri's list of haunted places and has been featured on HGTV's Scariest House in America, The Dead Files and Hotel Paranormal. It is a private property that opens only for tours and investigations by reservation.
Visits are by advance reservation only: 90-minute tours and longer investigations are offered by the owners, and the bed and breakfast has been listed as closed. Contact the Haunted Castle House to book; do not visit unannounced.
