Helen Hunt Jackson, the writer best known for Ramona, gave her name to these falls in Cheyenne Canyon after her death in 1885; her grave lies higher in the mountains near Gold Camp Road. Visitors near the falls and the grave site describe an uneasy feeling, and drivers on Gold Camp Road's nearby converted railroad tunnels report handprints appearing on their cars and voices carried on the air inside.
Helen Hunt Falls is in North Cheyenne Cañon Park. North Cheyenne Cañon Road has been reported closed, so check with Colorado Springs Parks before going. The visitor center is open only in summer.
