Staff and guests at the Antlers Hotel describe a man who lingers in the hotel bar after hours and a woman in a long gown seen descending a back staircase. The most often repeated story, a young woman's suicide on prom night sometime in the 1970s, has no record behind it. The hotel has stood on this site in downtown Colorado Springs since General William Jackson Palmer built the first version in 1883; fire destroyed it in 1898, and it was rebuilt twice more before reopening under its present name. For a stretch in the 1980s and '90s it operated as an Adam's Mark.
The Antlers, a Wyndham Hotel, is an operating hotel on Cascade Avenue; the present building dates to 1967, not to the 1883 original. Open to guests, diners and visitors in the lobby.
