Abram's Delight, a limestone house built in 1754, is the oldest house in Winchester and is now a historic house museum. Staff and local newspapers tell of Mary Hollingsworth, a family member born in 1836 who died in the house in 1917, blamed for slamming doors, tampering with the lights and moving furniture. Carpenters working on the 1951 restoration said they saw a tall man in Quaker dress climb the front steps and vanish. The stories are local lore, and the legend that Mary spied for the Confederacy is unverified.
