Founded by German immigrant settlers in 1844 as the Zion German Reformed Church, the congregation's first log building cost $25 to build; lightning struck and burned the church in 1936, and the present building, now home to Zion United Church of Christ, was built in 1938. The adjoining cemetery holds markers dating back to 1840. Locals say a ghost appears in the road here, stopping in front of cars and telling drivers to turn around.
Cemetery of Zion United Church of Christ, still in use. Visit in daylight and treat the graves with respect.
