The Woodrow Wilson House in Kalorama was home to the former president and his wife Edith from 1921 until his death there in 1924, and is now a museum. Visitors and staff tell of footsteps on the staircase after tours, the smell of cigar smoke in Wilson's library and a single piano note late at night. The museum itself says no apparitions have ever been documented and handles the stories with care, so they are unverified lore. Edith Wilson's brother also held seances in the house, which feeds the legend.
