The Brig is the only original building remaining from the Farragut Naval Training Station, which trained hundreds of thousands of recruits during World War II and briefly became the largest population center in Idaho. Once a confinement facility for unruly recruits, complete with barred cells, the building later served for years as a state parks maintenance building before its current life as a small museum. At least half a dozen state employees who worked there have described encountering the apparition of a balding man, possibly in a uniform, while others reported large objects mysteriously relocated or flung across the still-standing cells.
The Museum at the Brig is closed for the season and reopens on Memorial Day weekend 2027. Farragut State Park itself is open, with an entrance fee.
