Palmyra, New York

The Palmyra Historical Museum, in the old Phelps general store on Market Street, is a small museum of the village's history. New York ghost lists include it, with stories of vanishing cats, a full-bodied apparition, the smell of ash, flying toys and tugged clothing, and of children's laughter after a fire. Local legend links the activity to the Phelps family, whose daughter Sybil never married. The reports come from staff and visitors.
Small museum open by schedule or appointment; check with the Palmyra Historical Society before visiting.
