The Omni Parker House on School Street opened in 1855 under Harvey Parker and is one of the oldest continuously operating hotels in the United States. Its list of famous guests includes Charles Dickens, who gave readings of A Christmas Carol there, and the hotel's own writing about its haunted reputation names Dickens and Parker himself among the spirits said to remain. Guests and staff describe an elevator that stops on the third floor on its own, a presence on the tenth floor attributed to Harvey Parker, and doors and lights that act up without explanation. The hotel openly shares these stories as part of its history.
An operating hotel in downtown Boston. Hotel guests can book rooms; the lobby and restaurants are open to the public.
