The Mizpah Hotel in Tonopah was built in 1907 during a silver boom and was one of the first luxury hotels in the state. It was investigated by Ghost Adventures and is named on nearly every list of Nevada's most haunted hotels. Its signature ghost is the Lady in Red, a courtesan said to have been murdered in a fifth-floor suite by a jealous patron or his wife, whose spirit is described as whispering and playful, and male guests have reported low whispers in their ear in rooms 502 to 504. Guests also report children's voices, and the hotel keeps a guest book of the encounters.
Renovated, operating historic hotel with a restaurant and bar; ask about the fifth-floor rooms when booking.
