The Goldfield Hotel opened in 1908 as one of the grandest hotels in the West, with mahogany paneling, gold-leaf ceilings, crystal chandeliers, an elevator and 150 rooms, in the middle of a gold boom. It has stood closed since the 1940s. Its best-known story is of Elizabeth, said to have been the mistress of the owner, George Wingfield, who according to the legend chained her to a radiator in Room 109 after learning she was pregnant. The hotel was investigated by Ghost Adventures in 2004 (the crew's first documentary), 2011 and 2013 and by Ghost Hunters in 2008.
Privately owned and not open as a hotel. Guided tours and paranormal investigations are offered by appointment, with a liability waiver required for investigations; contact the owners before visiting and do not enter without permission.
