Lydia's Bridge is a railroad underpass over East Main Street in Jamestown near Greensboro, and the spirit of a young woman called Lydia is said to haunt it. Since the 1920s, drivers have reported a figure in a formal dress hitchhiking on rainy and foggy nights, who disappears as they stop to help, and the story is usually tied to a fatal prom-night car accident. It is a well-known North Carolina legend, and there is a historical marker for it.
