The Julia Ideson Building, completed in 1926 as Houston's central library and named for longtime librarian Julia Ideson, is a Spanish Renaissance landmark in downtown Houston that has since been restored. Texas ghost lore holds that it is haunted by a violin-playing ghost, a basement-dwelling spirit often said to be a maintenance man from the 1920s or 1930s.
