Hotel Savoy in Kansas City's Garment District opened in 1888 and was long billed as the oldest continuously operating hotel west of the Mississippi until a renovation in 2016. The best-known story is of Betsy Ward, a woman whose suspicious death in the bathtub of Room 505 is said to leave the room haunted. Guests and staff describe voices, shadows, doors that open and close, and a little girl in Victorian clothing seen on the fourth floor. Missouri haunted-hotel lists regularly include the Savoy, which is a working hotel again.
