Fort Bridger began in 1843 as a trading post founded by mountain man Jim Bridger and served as an Army post from 1858 to 1890. It is now a state historic site with restored buildings and a museum. Travel Wyoming lists it among the state's haunted places, with soldiers said to roam the grounds and a dog named Thornburgh said to guard the cemetery.
