The Colchester Overpass, a railroad bridge over Colchester Road near Clifton, is known as Bunny Man Bridge for an urban legend of a man in a rabbit costume who attacks people with an axe. The story grew from two reported 1970 incidents in Fairfax County; researchers say the actual events took place miles away on Guinea Road and that the bridge was simply a teen hangout, and the tale of an asylum crash or murdered family is not backed by documents. Fairfax County has restricted access around Halloween, so it is a legend worth knowing, not a place to linger.
A public road under an active railroad bridge; do not walk on the tracks or trespass. Police have limited access around Halloween; check Fairfax County before going.
