Staff in the Mary Reed Building describe the ghost of Mrs. Dupont still seated in "her" room, the former Dupont Room, a reading room named for a donor who funded the university's library, and a janitor reported seeing her there more than once. Built in 1932 with a $500,000 gift from Denver philanthropist Mary D. Reed, the building served as the university's library until Penrose Library opened in 1972, after which it became home to administrative offices. Its Collegiate Gothic design, with a 126-foot central tower, matches the neighboring Margery Reed Hall.
The Mary Reed Building is a Collegiate Gothic former library that now holds university administrative offices. The campus grounds are open to walk through, but the interior is for staff and appointments.
