Local telling holds that a father and son shot each other in a dispute at this Alma hotel sometime in the 1800s, and that a woman staying there was frightened badly enough by their presence to hang herself from the upper balcony. No record of either death has been found. Passersby report strange lights and an uneasy feeling near the building, and the woman has been seen in the upstairs hallway.
Former boarding house in Alma that now operates as a retreat and conference center for groups. It is not open for walk-in visits.
