The Skirvin Hilton, opened in 1911 by oilman W.B. Skirvin, is Oklahoma City's grand historic hotel. Its resident ghost is Effie, a chambermaid in a legend that says Skirvin kept her hidden in an upper room during a pregnancy and that she ended her own life; guests describe a woman in their rooms, doors slamming and a baby crying in empty rooms, most often on the seventh to tenth floors. Visiting basketball players have also told of unsettling nights there. The story is told as local legend and is a regular stop on Oklahoma City ghost tours.
Working hotel with a restaurant and bar; visitors can walk through the public lobby and stay overnight.
