The Battle of Perryville, fought on October 8, 1862, was the largest Civil War battle fought in Kentucky, with thousands of casualties in a single afternoon, and it ended the Confederate invasion of the state. The battlefield is now a state historic site with a museum and walking trails. Park manager Bryan Bush has said publicly that the park is haunted, and the site hosts ghost-hunting and ghost-story evenings on the battlefield each fall. Reported experiences include distant gunfire, voices and figures in the fields at night. The park is mostly about history, and the paranormal programming sits alongside the battle interpretation.
State historic site with a museum, trails and monuments; grounds are open daily and museum hours vary by season. Ghost hunting and ghost stories on the battlefield are scheduled for October 24 and 31, 2026, 7:30 to 8:30 pm, with tickets sold in advance.
