Built in 1981 on a Key West pier site with its own long history — an 1830s dock, Civil War and Spanish-American War naval use, and decades in the turtle, shark, and cigar trades — before Noble House Resorts acquired the property in 1998, this resort's third-floor suites carry its strongest reputation for activity: cold spots during the day, the sounds of keys and small objects being moved around the dresser at night, sighing sounds, and the sensation of someone sitting down on the bed. Guests describe returning to their rooms to find the lights and curtains never quite as they left them, and some report a heavy, sorrowful feeling accompanying the sighs, though the identity of whoever or whatever is responsible has never been established.
Operating resort at the foot of Duval Street beside Mallory Square. Rooms are for guests, but the restaurants and bar on the pier are open to the public.
