A church once stood on the site of Mt Zion Cemetery in Forest City and reportedly burned down during a service; those who died were buried on the grounds. Visitors describe hearing children giggling, a sharp whistling sound, and a persistent breeze through the cemetery. Local legend also holds that a preacher is buried near a tree at the back of the graveyard, and that knocking on the tree carries down through its roots to his grave, prompting a brief, startled shriek.
