Middletown, Delaware

This farmhouse northeast of Middletown was built in two phases — a Greek Revival section around 1830, with a Second Empire addition around 1870 — along with a smokehouse from the same early period; it's documented in the Library of Congress's historic buildings survey. Local report ties a haunting to the death of a young boy on the property in the early 1900s, though no record of the death itself has been found. Residents and visitors describe lights and appliances switching on and off by themselves, furniture moved, a persistent feeling of not being alone, and unexplained noises through the house.
Appears to be a private residence/working farm; there is no public visitor program. Please respect the property from the public road.
