Tina Tiedtke and her family founded this nonprofit arthouse cinema in 1985; it now hosts the Florida Film Festival. Its odd, decades-old local legend holds that the disembodied head of a woman appears in the north corner of the main theater on moonless nights around 1 a.m., floats across the room while screaming, and vanishes into the adjoining restaurant. No one has ever identified who she might be or why, though some note the area was once Fort Maitland, a Second Seminole War supply depot, and speculate she predates the theater itself.
Operating nonprofit cinema. Buy tickets online or at the box office; seating is first come, first served and the theater serves food and drinks.
