Built in 1885 and also known as the St. George Hotel and Longwood Village Inn, the Longwood Hotel has served over the decades as a gambling hall, an umpire school, and a movie set before its current life as office space. Its owner George Clark, a shoe salesman who'd bought and renamed the hotel in 1922, died in a fatal accident on the property on April 3, 1923, during an ice cream social held to celebrate the end of a booming tourist season. Tenants and police responding to a reported break-in have since described footsteps and lights turning on and off on the empty third floor, and an officer once reported seeing someone in an upstairs window during a room-to-room search that turned up no one.
Restored 1880s building used for professional offices, so it is not open as an attraction. The exterior can be seen from the street in Longwood's historic district.
