The Duff Green Mansion in Vicksburg was built in 1856 and has served as a family home, a Confederate and Union hospital during the 1863 siege, an orphanage and a private residence. Its reputation is built on that layered history. Reports include the wandering spirit of Annie Green, a child who lived in the house and died at age six, a phantom soldier in the halls, and the repeated reappearance of what look like bloodstains on the floors. The mansion has hosted public ghost hunts around Halloween.
