The Columbia Gorge Hotel, built by Portland timber baron Simon Benson in 1921 on a cliff beside Wah Gwin Gwin Falls, is a Spanish-style landmark of the Historic Columbia River Highway. Oregon ghost writers and hotel-industry blogs describe a cigar-smoke smell tied to a former resident, furniture barricaded from inside empty rooms, a man in a frock coat and top hat, a woman in white said to have jumped from a balcony, a woman's ghost in Room 330 and a child near where a pool used to be.
Working hotel with a restaurant and lounge; visitors are welcome in the public areas and for dining.
