Opened October 25, 1925, as the Capitol Theatre with a screening of the silent film The Coast of Folly, this Paragould venue was purchased by the Collins family in 1936 and took their name; it operated until 1986, when the family donated it to the Greene County Fine Arts Council, which restored it starting in 1991. Cast members rehearsing on stage have reported seeing an elderly couple sitting in the balcony, watching quietly before vanishing — many believe them to be the theater's former owners, still curious about the goings-on in the building they once ran.
The Collins Theatre operates as a working performance venue; check its event calendar for public shows and tours.
