Music Hall, opened in 1878 and a National Historic Landmark since 1975, is Cincinnati's home for its symphony, opera and ballet. It was built on the site of a burial ground for paupers, and builders found graves during its 1800s work and again in later renovations. Staff and tour guides tell of a woman's voice singing in an empty ballroom, whispers in the service elevator and figures in 19th-century dress. The Cincinnati Arts Association and Friends of Music Hall host paid guided ghost tours, including with a local paranormal research team.
Working concert hall; the public is welcome at performances and on the ghost tours, which are ticketed and run on select dates.
