Centennial Hall in Valentine is one of the oldest surviving school buildings in Nebraska, listed on the National Register of Historic Places and now a museum. Nebraska haunted-places lists describe spirits of what are called perpetual students, including a young schoolgirl said to have been poisoned, with accounts of phantom footsteps, music, rocking chairs that move on their own and voices. Visitors have described the building as active.
Historic museum open in season; check with the Valentine area for hours.
