Calico was a silver-mining boomtown in the 1880s; Walter Knott restored it and donated it to San Bernardino County, which runs it as a regional park and California's official Silver Rush Ghost Town. Staff and visitors tell of footsteps, shadows and unexplained voices in the old buildings and mines, and Ghost Adventures visited for its 2025 episode "Condemned in Calico." The stories are local lore.
County regional park with an entrance fee; shops, mine tours and camping on site.
