The Brook Forest Inn, a mountain lodge in Evergreen, carries several unconnected ghost stories rather than one documented past. Staff describe cold presences on the stairs to the third floor, said locally to be a chambermaid and the stable hand who killed her before taking his own life; a second-floor room tied to a husband's discovery of his wife's affair; and a small boy, said to have died of flu, heard running the third-floor hallway at night. None of the specific deaths behind these stories has been documented.
The historic inn is closed and has been listed for sale. It is not open to guests or visitors, so please do not trespass.
